Biblical Foundations
The scriptural basis for God's design of gender, marriage, and family.
Genesis 1:27
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
This foundational verse establishes God's intentional creation of two distinct, complementary sexes.
Genesis 2:24
Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.
God's design for marriage is between one man and one woman, forming the basis for family.
Matthew 19:4-5
He answered, 'Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female, and said, "Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh"?'
Jesus reaffirms God's original design for gender and marriage.
Romans 1:26-27
For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another...
Scripture is clear that homosexual behavior is contrary to God's design.
1 Corinthians 6:9-11
Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality... And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
While identifying homosexual behavior as sin, this passage also offers hope through Christ's transforming power.
